Artist in Residence at Ferens Art Gallery

I first heard about the artists residency at the  Ferens Art Gallery  by visiting and seeing the work by the previous artists in residence. Could I? Should I? Well, I did, I applied. And was happily successful too. Hence this blog. What a marvellous opportunity to be able to create work in the Ferens Art Gallery in the city where I completed my Fine Art degree. And having entered the Open Exhibition successfully previously this was such an incredible opportunity to be selected to do. First things first, a meeting to discuss the expectations and a brief. Followed by an informative tour by the Curator of Art, Kerri Offord. I began to make some great connections with the gallery building, artworks and TR Ferens the founder of the gallery. Firstly, the building, noticing the front of the building, the windows, doors, furniture and the architecture. The use of materials and constructions of them. The whole building was built with symmetry in mind. The gallery opened in 1927...
